Our latest invention at Todd Fish Tech is the Crab Pod shellfish tank.
This has been designed for larger quantities of crab and enables the user to purge, store and condition the crab making export to Europe and the Far East feasible.
The purpose-built, insulated polypropylene tank is really robust.
The Crab Pod tank has integrated filtration developed from the highly effective Lobster Pod shellfish system and a seawater chiller to make finger-tip control of the temperature possible.
Unique water and air diffuser channels in the base of the tank ensure all of your shellfish have clean, filtered and oxygenated water at all times.
The system is turn-key with no installation required.
The Crab Pod holding tank ensures fresh and lively crab.
The Crab Pod system is delivered by HIAB lorry to UK customers only.

Cleaning and Maintenance
- Daily – check your stock, water flow and temperature.
- Weekly – do a water test to check ammonia, nitrite, nitrate, pH and salinity.
- Every 4 weeks (or sooner if the ammonia levels rise) – do a 20% water change.
- Every 3-6 months – change the wooden airstone in the protein skimmer
- Every year – change the UV bulb
All of our shellfish systems have a one year manufacturer’s warranty.
“Our new Crab Pod uses the same filter as our award winning Lobster Pod system but allows it to be used to hold larger quantities of crab or langoustine in tubes opening up new export markets for our customers.”

Standard size Crab Pods start at £12,000 + VAT + delivery by HIAB.
The Crab Pod system has our unique filter with Mechanical, Biological and Chemical filters, Ultraviolet Steriliser and Protein Skimmer. All new filters take time to mature. The good bacteria on the moving bed biofilter take on average six weeks to multiply and grow. Once your Crab Pod system is mature we recommend changing 20% of the water every 4 weeks or if the ammonia levels rise.
